This position will be onsite at a contractor site in Great Mills, MD with occasional visits to Webster Outlying Field (WOLF) in St. Inigoes, MD or various Patuxent River Naval Base facilities in Lexington Park, MD.

Overview:
The Mechanical Engineer will provide Engineering (Journeyman) support to the Naval Air Warfare Center Aircraft Division Webster Outlying Field (NAWCAD WOLF), supporting the Unmanned Carrier Aviation (UCA) Program Activity with UCA Mission Control System (UMCS) engineering and design support activities.
Primary Duties:
The candidate will provide engineering and drafting support efforts for the UCA projects. These supporting efforts shall include developing and maintaining mechanical, electrical, and systems engineering documentation to involve product integration, installation, interface design analysis, installation, fielding, and operational maintenance documentation related to all program specific drawings and documents consistent with the UCA configuration management practices.

Education and Experience:
This position is subject to a government security investigation and must meet eligibility requirements for access to classified information. In order to complete the requirements for government security clearance investigation you must be a U.S. Citizen and be able to complete the full background investigation. This position requires an Active Secret Security Clearance with ability to obtain and maintain a higher clearance if required.
Compensation:
While skills, education, and experience are key factors, they are not the sole determinants of salary. Other determining factors include but are not limited to location, contract budgets and requirements, and government labor category guidelines. The estimated salary range for this position is $80,000-$120,000. KAIROS also provides a comprehensive benefits package as additional employee compensation.

Skills and Qualifications:
- Experience in engineering, analysis and integration of equipment/systems and subsystems.
- Proficient with CAD software and analysis tools (structural analysis, thermal analysis). Autodesk Inventor experience preferred. Familiarity with ASME Y14.000 drafting standard preferred.
- Experience with systems engineering framework and reviews such as System Requirements Review, Preliminary Design Review, and Critical Design Review.
- Knowledge of manufacturing processes, material selection, and design for
- manufacturability.
- Experience with design, development, installation, and maintenance of rackmounted communications systems, including aircraft and ship-based equipment.
- Ability to interface professionally with peers at all levels and communicate effectively with project staff and other team members from various contractors and government entities.
- Demonstrates exceptional attention to detail, ensuring accuracy and completeness in all tasks.
- Strong customer relations, analytics, documentation skills
- Self-starter, highly motivated, strong work ethic with a commitment to quality
- Microsoft office suite proficiency, i.e., Word, Excel, PowerPoint
- Ability to work within a challenging, fast-paced, team-oriented environment

Education and Experience:
- Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college in Mechanical Engineering, Aeronautical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, or related areas.
- In lieu of a bachelor’s degree, an additional five (5) years of work experience can be substituted
- Three (3) years of experience performing engineering functions related to military C6ISR Systems.
