This position is subject to a government security investigation and must meet eligibility requirements for access to classified information. In order to complete the requirements for government security clearance investigation you must be a U.S. Citizen and be able to complete the full background investigation. This position requires an Active Secret Security Clearance.
Compensation:
While skills, education, and experience are key factors, they are not the sole determinants of salary. Other determining factors include but are not limited to location, contract budgets and requirements, and government labor category guidelines. The estimated salary range for this position is $50,000.00 to $60,000.00. KAIROS also provides a comprehensive benefits package as additional employee compensation.

This position will create and revise technical documents such as manuals, reports, brochures, or articles.
Primary Duties:
- Edit a wide range of technical documents including system manuals, security documentation, statements of work (SOW), white papers, and policy/procedure manuals.
- Ensure proper grammar, punctuation, style, and formatting in accordance with DoD and federal standards and Plain Language Guidelines.
- Verify the technical accuracy, completeness, and consistency of documentation prepared by writers and SMEs.
- Align content with specific frameworks as determined by the program’s leadership team.
- Ensure correct use of classification markings and controlled unclassified information (CUI) labeling.
- Work with technical staff to resolve inconsistencies, fill information gaps, and improve content clarity.
- Support configuration management efforts by maintaining version control and tracking changes to document revisions.
- Enforce document templates, writing style guides, and publication standards across teams.
- Work collaboratively with stakeholders to investigate, analyze, plan, design, develop, implement, or evaluate technical and program related documentation.
Skills and Qualifications:
- Editing technical documentation in a DoD or federal government environment.
- Strong command of editing and formatting tools (e.g., Microsoft Word, Adobe Acrobat, SharePoint, XML/DITA tools).
- Familiarity with DoD directives, instructions, and technical documentation standards.
- Strong attention to detail, organizational skills, and an ability to manage multiple editing projects simultaneously.
- Demonstrated ability to successfully work with large and diverse teams.
- Ability to effectively provide guidance, direction, and supervision in technical writing.
- Strong customer relations and documentation skills.
- Self-starter, highly motivated, strong work ethic with a commitment to quality.
- Ability to work within a challenging, fast-paced, team-oriented environment

Education and Experience:
- Bachelor’s degree in English, Technical Communication, Journalism, or related discipline, required or a qualifying substitution, if identified.
- At least one to two years of related experience or qualifiable substitute.
