This position will have demonstrated knowledge in the area of mechanical engineering expertise and will apply and integrate engineering principles to investigate, analyze, plan, design, develop, implement, test, or evaluate military Command, Control, Communications, Computers, Combat Systems, Intelligence, Surveillance, and Reconnaissance (C5ISR) systems. This position predominantly performs tasks independently under the peripheral guidance and supervision of senior engineers and managers.

Education and Experience:
This position is subject to a government security investigation and must meet eligibility requirements for access to classified information. In order to complete the requirements for government security clearance investigation you must be a U.S. Citizen and be able to complete the full background investigation. This position requires an Active Secret Security Clearance.
Compensation:
While skills, education, and experience are key factors, they are not the sole determinants of salary. Other determining factors include but are not limited to location, contract budgets and requirements, and government labor category guidelines. The estimated salary range for this position is $90,000 to $105,000 annually. KAIROS also provides a comprehensive benefits package as additional employee compensation.

Primary Duties:
- Applies and integrates engineering principles to investigate, analyze, plan, design, develop, implement, test, or evaluate military C5ISR systems.
- Reviews and prepares engineering and technical analyses, reports, change proposals, and other technical documentation.
- Applies engineering experience to perform functions such as system integration, configuration management, quality assurance testing, or acquisition and resource management.
- Analyzes designs, develops, implements, tests, or evaluates software, components, or systems related to engineering or functional requirements of military C5ISR systems and associated support systems or management information systems.
- Facilitates government certification testing on fielded IFF antenna system. Generates technical plans, procedures, and reports to satisfy government certification documentation requirements.
- Performs stress analysis (finite element analysis) on hardware components after environmental testing has been conducted and failures have been identified.
- Analyze stress analysis findings and generate an engineering analysis report to detail/ recommend any design changes to the government.
- Manages and leads technical projects. Generates hardware parts list. Generates test plans, procedures, and reports for various forms of bench and lab testing. Coordinates with vendors and manufactures to acquire various hardware components in support of the project. Works with manufacturers to troubleshoot any equipment malfunctions.
- Generates mechanical and electrical drawings as needed.
- Leads the execution of complex tasks.
- Experience with PLM, MBSE, AutoCAD and 3D Modeling (e.g., Enovia, Cameo, Genesys, Ansys, Inventor, PTC Creo, SolidWorks, etc.).
- Experience with Thermodynamics, Heat Transfer, Fluid Mechanics, MATLAB, Electronics and Instrumentation, Statics, Dynamics, Mechanics Based Design, Finite Element Analysis, etc.
- Ability to perform all functional duties independently
- Ability to lead the execution of complex tasks
- Ability to apply and integrate engineering principles to investigate, analyze, plan, design, develop, implement, test, or evaluate military C5ISR systems
- Ability to review and prepare engineering and technical analyses, reports, change proposals, and other technical documentation
- Strong technical writing skills across a variety of technical documents
- Ability to apply engineering experience to perform functions such as systems engineering, system integration, configuration management, quality assurance, testing, or acquisition and resource management
- Ability to analyze designs, develop, implement, test, or evaluate hardware/firmware/software components, or systems related to engineering or functional requirements of military C5ISR systems and associated support systems or management information systems
- Strong customer relations, analytics, and documentation skills
- Self-starter, highly motivated, effective communicator, strong work ethic with a commitment to quality
- Microsoft Office Suite proficiency to include Teams, Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Visio, etc.
- Ability to work within a challenging, fast-paced, team-oriented environment

Education and Experience:
- Bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering; engineering master’s degree preferred.
- Five (5) years of relevant experience.
- Of the minimum five years of experience, at least two of those years must be in engineering of Combat Identification (CID) systems (i.e., systems used in the process of accurately identifying objects in a combat environment to make real-time tactical decisions).
